Q: What is salmon?
A: Salmon is one of the most majestic fish species there is, Abundant if sustainably caught or farmed. Salmon also has the peculiarity of being an anadromous fish sort.

Q: What does anadromous mean?
A: Anadromous indicates fish that can live both in fresh water or ocean water. In the case of salmon they are born in fresh water, migrate to the ocean and finally return to fresh water to reproduce or spawn.

Q: Is there only one sort of Salmon?
A: No there are several sorts of salmon:
There is Atlantic salmon “Salmo salar” and 5 sorts of Pacific salmon

A: Lox is derived from the Norwegian word 'laks', or German word 'lachs', which both mean "salmon". In the U.S.A. the word 'lox' has been adopted as a generic term for any type cured salmon, but most often people use it to refer to smoked salmon.
